“It seems that employees just aren’t interested in development!” Sound familiar? Our recent 2025 Trends in Training survey revealed that one of the biggest challenges is low learner participation. This can result from various factors, such as not having enough time to market the training program or misaligning content with the professional development topics learners will most likely engage with.

At BizLibrary, we aim to solve this problem and turn low employee participation into participation that blows expectations out of water. To achieve this, our content must meet the needs of our learners, enhancing understanding and retention across the wide variety of topics we cover.

So, how does BizLibrary engage employees in their development with our all-in-one solution? While 52% of L&D professionals don’t focus on elective learning, our BizLMS removes this burden, allowing them to concentrate on creating prescriptive programs like leadership, wellness, and sales/customer service training. When learners first log in to BizLMS, they’re greeted by an onboarding modal that guides them through a series of questions to capture their preferred learning styles. These questions include:

  • How do you learn best: short and fast or long and detailed?
  • Why are you logging into the LMS: mandatory training or exploratory learning?
  • Job interests: select your role from a list.

Based on their answers, learners receive personalized content recommendations through a skills-based playlist or BizAI’s recommended content playlist, both powered by AI technology. These playlists deliver content that aligns with the learner’s preferred learning style and supports upskilling or reskilling in areas relevant to their current or future role.

We understand that not all learners are the same, which is why we offer a variety of content formats designed to meet diverse learning preferences.

For on-the-go learners: Whether learners are field workers without access to a desk or those who prefer to learn on the go—such as at the gym or while traveling—our content is easily accessible on mobile devices. Recently, we launched a new content series, Thirty-Minute Mentors, a podcast hosted by Adam Mendler. This series covers leadership, team building, and personal development, topics that learners are increasingly interested in.

For lecture-style learners: One of our most popular content series is Expert Insights. This series features dozens of presenters who are passionate and knowledgeable about topics like workplace happiness, developing a winning mindset, financial planning, and more. Presenters share insights based on their professional experience and research. Throughout these lessons, key points and definitions are highlighted on screen to assist learners who prefer to take notes or benefit from visual aids.

For visual learners: We also offer content that’s heavily visual, combining voiceover narration with images or B-roll footage to bring the information to life. This format is ideal for learners who process information best through visual stimuli. Seeing certain job functions being performed (like operating heavy machinery) or software being used (especially new features available in everyday applications) can help bring further understanding that can then be easily recalled when it’s time to apply the knowledge gained.

In addition to varying formats, we ensure that our content accommodates different time constraints. We recognize that learners’ availability for professional (or personal) development varies, so our expansive library includes lessons of different lengths to meet diverse schedules.

Some lessons are stand-alone, meaning they are not part of a larger series. These shorter lessons—often under five minutes—provide quick tips or overviews. We also offer lessons that are 30 minutes or longer for those who wish to dive deeper into specific topics. And last, some lessons are presented in a series format, allowing learners to either binge multiple short lessons or watch them as their time permits.

Lastly, we try to eliminate as many barriers to learning as possible, which is why we offer our content with closed captioning in multiple languages in addition to English. Recently, we updated our caption selectors, enabling us to caption 5,080 in our BizLibrary Collection. Of these, 2,568 BizLibrary Productions titles have 12 language options (Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Dutch, French, German, Hindi, Italian. Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese) and New York specific courses have six more options (Bangladesh, French Canadian, Haitian Creole, Korean, Polish, Russian, Urdu).

These closed captions make our content more accessible, benefiting learners in various ways. First, they assist individuals with hearing impairments or those who prefer to read text while listening. Second, they support non-native English speakers by providing text in their native language, improving comprehension and helping with difficult translations. Closed captions also promote retention by allowing learners to read along while listening, reducing the cognitive load of trying to both listen and take notes simultaneously.

Additionally, several lessons feature knowledge check-ins, engagement prompts, and end-of-lesson quizzes to help increase retention of the material covered.

  • Knowledge check-ins appear throughout lessons, asking questions related to the material to ensure learners are staying engaged.
  • Engagement prompts ask optional questions like, “Do you have goals?” or “How do you stay organized?”
  • At the end of select lessons, mandatory quizzes assess knowledge retention, which is particularly important for compliance-related content.

At BizLibrary, we prioritize offering training that aligns with each learner’s preferences. This ensures that every learner can find training suited to their needs and contributes to their professional growth. That’s why we not only focus on creating new content but also ensure that the content evolves to meet the changing needs of our learners.
